Asus has announced that it has just begun the release of Android 4.4 Padfone KitKat on Infinity and FonePad Note 6 The update, weighing respectively 1.15 and 1 gigabyte, can be downloaded over the air and in addition to adding new functionality and to improve the stability of the devices and in general of the OS, eliminates some applications preinstalled by the manufacturer.

Just as usual both devices will update to Asus ZenUI. For PadFone Infinity (A80), Android 4.4 KitKat does not support some pre-installed apps. Here are the apps that will be removed or renamed once the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade is complete:

·         Buddybuzz
·         Car Home
·         Watch Calendar
·         My Library
·         My Bit cast
·         App Backup→ will add it back in further run FOTA
·         Pinpal
·         ASUS Studio→ renamed to Gallery
·         ASUS To-Do→ renamed to Do It Later
·         Black list→ integrated with Contacts, no independent App icon now
·         ASUS Sync
·         App Locker→ integrated with Launcher, no independent App icon now
·         AO Link
·         ASUS Echo
·         Birthday Reminder
·         Mode manager
·         System bar lock
·         Device tracker
·         Floating App
·         Quick Tool

As for the Fonepad Note 6, the new update improves modem stability and removes app locker to combine into launcher. The update also removes Device Tracker as KitKat doesn't support this function. Just like the PadFone Infinity (A80), pre-installed apps such as App backup, MyLibrary, Parental Lock, MyBit Cast & AO Link will be removed too.
Steps of Update for PadFone Infinity:

·         Check SW version of your PadFone Infinity*

·         Download PadFone Firmware: V11.8.10.24 Only for STARHUB SKU and Update version of SOP (From “Manual” Item)
Steps of update for Fonepad Note 6:

·         Check the software version of your ASUS Fonepad Note 6*


·         Download the ASUS Fonepad Note 6 (ME560CG) Firmware: V11.2.1.22 (for JP SKU version only) and Update version of SOP (from “Manual” Item)
